WE’RE BACK AT SEA! News from UpWind by MerConcept
After a busy winter dedicated to refit work and preparation, UpWind by MerConcept is back on the water.
Last week marked an important milestone with the relaunch of the boat in Concarneau, bringing the technical work period to an end and opening a new chapter for the season. Just a few days later, the team returned to sea for the first sail of the year, an essential moment to reconnect with the boat and restart the sporting momentum.
The winter months also provided an opportunity to continue developing the project beyond the sporting dimension. The team took part in The Week, a collective program designed to explore major environmental challenges, while members of the project also joined the Course au Large 2030 workshops, bringing together sailors, scientists and industry stakeholders to reflect on the future sustainability of offshore racing.
Finally, staying true to UpWind’s mission to promote greater diversity and inclusion in sailing and sport, Anne-Claire Le Berre recently participated in a roundtable organized by Sport dans la ville, speaking with around 150 young people about gender equality in sport and inspiring the next generation.
The coming weeks will be dedicated to training and preparing for the season ahead. The team will spend time on the water to refine the boat’s settings and continue building rhythm and cohesion on board.
In early April, UpWind by MerConcept will head to the south of France for the opening events of the Ocean Fifty Series, with the first stops in Sainte-Maxime and Ajaccio.
A new chapter of the season begins — and we look forward to sharing it with you!
